The first thing to do is go into your root drive (C:) and make a new text document file and name it.

Part 1:
Double click "MyComputer" ... then double click "Local Disk (C:)" right click in the open space ... scroll to "New" then "Text Document"
Name it whatever you like but you will need to modify the command line accordingly in this example I will use the name "teksavvy.com"

Part 2:
Close all windows and return to Desktop.
Click "Start" ... "Run" ... and in the run box type
"cmd /k tracert teksavvy.com >> c:\teksavvy.com.txt" without the quotes then click "OK"

A black box should appear... Don't do anything until a line of text appears.
Once the trace is done it will log the info in the text document you created automatically.
Its also important that all web pages and web programs are not used while tracing as it will skew the results.
(Do not check e-mail, surf, or have messengers running idle)

Goto C: drive to your file, open it and the results should be there.
If you wish to put a date and time stamp into the file simply push "F5" while you are looking at the results.
Click "File" and "Save" to save the date and time.
